Cough back our money: airtel Uganda takes top ubc managers to court over caf funds!

Four months after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations held in Gabon, Airtel Uganda has taken top managers Uganda Broadcasting Corporations (UBC) to court for failure to relay the tournament despite soliciting funds from the Telecommunication Company.

The Spy Sport understands that former MD Paul Kihika, Engineer Nkenza Angello who was the acting MD, Osinde Walter, Stephen Rupiiha now at NBS TV and Peter Kateeba now at National Information Regulatory Authority (NIRA) are among the officials implicated in the matter.
The matter has already reached offices of the Criminal Investigations and Crime Intelligence with the officials already summoned to make appearance according to the police Public Relations Officer of Interpol, Peace and Stability and CIID Vincent Ssekate who revealed that the suspects made an agreement with Airtel company to broadcast the recent Africa Cup of Nations this year after agreeing to pay shillings 3.6 billion whose amount was supposed to be paid in 4 installments, with the first installment that was paid was Shs368m, then 350m and then 116m , but didn’t pay the balance after seeing some irregularities.
Ssekate added that the suspects are supposed to appear on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, but three of their colleagues Emmanuel Tumusiime, Edison Asiimwe and Cleophas Kiiza were summoned and released on police bond.
