Yes, the MTN Kampala marathon could have long passed on 19th November but there are still some ‘causalities’ complaining barely 2 weeks later accusing Britania babes of ‘destructing’ them from their sole purpose of running to simply imagining how God could spend more time on their behinds than other ‘town aces’!
One such ‘causality’ who openly confessed to this reporter of the ‘injuries’ he sustained in his lower parts is city businessman Denis Gashumba, brother to Frank Gashumba. According to Denis, he ran behind Britania’s new head of Marketing Ms.Treza Birungi and forgot everything about the marathon and instead kept his eyes on the sexy bootylicious sexy babe’s behind as she wiggled passed several participants! “I didn’t know you knew that lady until I saw you talking to her over there, but she made me forget why I came here for sure, because for the entire route I was running behind her and maaan….i suffered!” Denis intimated to this reporter at Fairway Hotel on Thursday where they had met for the Media nightout gig.
Apart from displaying their various products for sale at the event being part of the sponsors of this year’s 14th MTN Kampala marathon, the Ntinda based juice pioneers unleashed a bee hive of bootylicious babes who ‘wiggled’ in the 10km race and left men pocketing every time they over took them. They were led by their new head Marketing Treza Birungi, Doreen Ayo (Road show promotions team), Head of Quality assurance Carol among others.
After okaying millions of money to MTN’s accounts clearly for a marathon sponsorship, Britania’s Director for finance Mr.Mohammed Elzorgani was instead seen walking all the way and only ran when he was 30 meters to the finishing line!
Kololo Independence ground this year gathered over 30,000 participants for the 2017 MTN Kampala Marathon. The sporting event being one of Uganda’s largest event brought participants from all over the world to come run for a cause, and also giving back to the community.
For the previous years, participants were running for one cause, but this time round telecommunication giant MTN Uganda made several changes including; participants choosing what cause they would represent; either improving Komamboga and Kiswa Maternal Health Centers or Reducing Child Exposure to Cancer by asbestos roofings on their classrooms. In addition, they also increased on the cash prize of winners, and also awards medals to participants that finished in the top 100 positions.
From the initial statistics, 56% of the registered runners chose to contribute to maternal health while 44% selected reducing cancer in schools.
“This was our 14th edition of the MTN Kampala Marathon and we as management, staff, partners, and sponsors were all truly impressed by the numbers of not only those who registered to run but also well-wishers, marathon enthusiasts and corporate companies that turned up,” The Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Uganda Mr. Olivier Prentout stated.
Notably, at the elite end of the marathon, there was an improvement shown by Ugandan runners compared to previous editions when it came to results in the full 42km marathon and the half marathon 21km category. Whereas Kenyans took top honors in the elite 42km race for men and women races, Ugandans took 13 out of the 15 available slots in the Top 5 positions of the 42k, 21k and 10k race for both men and women.
