Bushenyi Police Station In Darkness After Umeme Disconnection

By Micheal Atwakiire

Bushenyi: Greater Bushenyi police headquarters have been in darkness for a month now after power distributor Umeme disconnected their power supply.

According to the Regional Police Commander Eddie Sserunjogi, the issue of power blackout at Bushenyi police station has been ongoing for the last one month and when he was asked about the reason for the disconnection, the RPC advised us to ask Umeme, not him. He noted that he is just a power user like others, but not a supplier. People who visit police to report cases at night told us that they face it rough because the police officers use candles and light from mobile phones at the counter to record statements.

We tried getting a comment from the Umeme manager for Greater Bushenyi about the matter but their phones couldn’t be reached at the time of failing this story. Our efforts  to get a comment from Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga were also futile.
