Daily Monitor Scribe For UJA Presidency, Promises To Re-Align ‘Sinking Boat’

Daily Monitor’s senior photo journalist Lubowa Abubaker has been fully nominated to vie for Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) presidency.

Speaking to journalists after his nomination on Tuesday, Lubowa said his main focus would be on uniting journalists irrespective of their media houses and beats or speciality, fighting and defending the journalists’ Rights, reinstating the lost glory and trust of UJA, improving the welfare of journalists by forming for them a journalist SACCO and other economic projects and selling UJA to potential funders.  He also promised to form a think tanker committee for UJA thus revamping the association.

“This is not a personal cause but a cause for all journalists to get the respect we deserve, am the change that journalists across the country have been waiting for, so make no blunder vote for yours truly Lubowa Abubaker ” said Lubowa.

Lubowa becomes the second journalist so far to be nominated to vie for UJA presidency after vision group/ Bukeddde FM Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira.

Others that were nominated on Tuesday include Isaac Katende alias Kasuku of Dembe FM and Mathias Rukundo of vision group for vice president UJA respectively, Bayola Moses of star fm for Secretary General, Kabuye Ronald of Metro Fm and press secretary for Information.

Others include  Mukose Arnold Anthony of Salt media for media safety and Human Rights, Wasajja Mahad of CBS FM and Mukisa Daniel for organizing secretary respectively, Kigongo Issa of Channel 44 for Treasurer, Ssebaduka John CBS Fm for deputy secretary general, Emma Kirundu Bukedde fm and Martin Kimbowa of Kingdom FM for secretary for Education.

Ssetimba Joseph of Bukedde TV and Kiku of pearl Fm were nominated for secretary for production, Ddungu Davis of CBS and Denis Kambugu of Bukedde TV for secretary for external affairs among others.

The elections and General Assembly is scheduled for this Friday 10th August at tick Hotel Kawempe a Kampala suburb.
