‘Fighting Insecurity Is Every Ugandan’s Duty’-Archbishop Ntagali’

By Andrew Irumba

Fort Portal: The outgoing Archbishop of the Church of Uganda on Sunday called upon all Ugandans to exert concerted efforts in fighting insecurity in Uganda because  it concerns us all.

Ntagali, who made these remarks while giving a homily at St. John’s Cathedral, in Fort Portal, expressed worry that the number of Boda-boda riders who have been killed in cold blood is increasing, just like the cases of robberies and theft are.

Ntagali made the call while giving a homily at St. John’s Cathedral in Fort Portal, where he had gone to bid farewell to Christians of Ruwenzori Diocese ahead of his retirement in March next year.

Ntagali noted that the task to curb these crimes cannot be left to the government alone adding that everyone should keep watch over their neighbour’s property and life.   He also urged parents to take good care of their children.

During the same function, the Omukama of Tooro Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV appreciated the dedication of Ntagali during his seven-year term as Archbishop. The Omukama also asked religious leaders to use their platforms to educate people on environment conservation in his message that was read by the First Deputy Premier of the Kingdom Harriet Nyakake.

In his remarks, the Bishop for Rwenzori Diocese, Rt. Rev. Reuben Kisembo, described Ntagali as ‘a man who sticks to his word, very developmental, and served God wholeheartedly.’
