Self-proclaimed ‘Big Size’ Bebe Cool is currently being haunted by his stand to support the Over the Top Tax (OTT), as fans have vowed not to vote for him in the All Africa Music Awards.
The AFRIMA awards are due November 24th in Accra, Ghana.
When Social Media Tax was introduced, many artistes showed solidarity towards the removal of the OTT. Bebe Cool, however, referred to everyone who supported OTT to be removed as ‘cockroaches’ and ‘people with shallow minds’.
He also rubbished fellow musicians Bobi Wine, APass, Dr Hilderman among others who held a demonstration downtown to decampaign the OTT bill and referred to them as cockroaches.
Bebe also called upon his ‘Jajja’ to spray all the Cockroaches that joined the “Useless campaign”, for they are the ones misleading Ugandans.
Now Ugandans have started their own social media campaign to vote for Tanzania’s Bongo Flava artiste Diamond Platinumz in the AFRIMA. Diamond, Bebe Cool, Harmoniza, Khalifa Jone, Ray Vanny, Nyashinski, Kagwe Mungai, Yamiu Mola are nominated for the Best Male Artiste, East Africa.
“I suggest that we Boycott Bebe Cool in AFRIMA and vote Diamond Platinumz as the Best Male East African Artiste. Remember Bebe supported OTT, called us hooligans and that he cares less about low class Ugandan, ‘Mbu’ now he needs us…. Let OTT vote for him,” fans took to Facebook.
Platinumz and Ethiopia’s Betty G are the top East African contenders with six nominations each. Platnumz is competing for Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Artist in African Contemporary, Best Artist in African Reggae, Ragga and Dancehall, Song Writer of the Year and Best Male Artist in Eastern Africa.
