The owner of Pine car bond, Hajji Muhammed Ssebuwufu has denied murdering a city businesswoman, Betty Donah Katusabe in 2015.

while appearing  before justice Flavia Anglin Senoga of the High Court, Ssebuwufu alongside other seven suspects who included Tasingika Paul, Damaseni Sentongo, Kayinza Godfrey, Mirambe Philip, Shaban Oduttu and Yoweri Kitayimbwa denied the murder charges.

“I didn’t murder Katusabe, because on that day I was not around. I was busy in other meetings, at Mengo court”, he said.

Muhammad and his team were also charged with aggravated robbery and kidnap with intent to murder which they all denied.

It is said that the business lady was murdered by beating for allegedly failing to clear a Shs9m debt on a car she had bought from Mr Ssebuwufu’s car bond, a stone throw from Kampala Central Police Station where Aaron Baguma was commander at the time.

They have also denied the charges of kidnapping the deceased at Bwebajja along Entebbe Road.

The prosecutors led by Alex Ojok from the DPP’s office said they have two witnesses to pin the suspects today.

Mr Ojok says they are ready to proceed with the case.

The case file initially had former police commander of Kampala Central Police Station, Mr Aaron Baguma but at the latest court appearance last month, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mike Chibita, dropped the murder charges against him alone.

The case has been adjourned to Thursday 8th February.
