MP Mugume Blames Gov’t For Spending Tax Payers’ Money Luxuriously

Rukungiri: Roland Mugume Kaginda, the Member of Parliament Rukungiri municipality, has blamed government officials for what he terms as being luxurious while spending Tax Payers’ money.

Mugume, a staunch Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Member, made these remarks on Friday at Immaculate Heart Girls S.S Nyakibaare, where he blamed the government for spending a lot of money funding civil servants to go abroad for benchmarking on issues related to accountability, yet there are institutions in the country that are corruption-free which government can use to learn from and reverse the trend.
Mugume said all this while commissioning the magnificent block at Immaculate Heart SS. Construction of the building was done using funds contributed by the Old Girls (OGs) of the school. The school was celebrating 50 years in existence.

Mugume said that “Immaculate Heart Girls school is one of such institutions that have become a model for proper utilization of government funds in infrastructural development. The multipurpose complex you fundraised for and built was initially put to a tune of Shs22 billion by government officials but surprisingly you the administrators you were able to construct it using less than Shs5 billion; now what’s that? Instead of giving medals to some policemen for torturing Ugandans at no reason, they would have given them to you.” He added. Mugume further said that he requested the parliament of Uganda to send Public Accounts Committee of parliament for benchmarking at Immaculate Heart Girls School, which he suggests to be a learning center for government institutions on matters of accountability and transparency instead of spending millions of money going to the United States of America.
