Sheema: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged Mbarara archdiocese religious leaders to cooperate and fight against promoters of sectarianism in the area.

These remarks were read in his speech presented by Minister Hon. Eng. John Byabagambi on Sunday, who represented Museveni at Mushanga Catholic Parish Sheema district at the closing of AMDA Calvan medical camp which has been in the area for three days.

In his message, Museveni advised religious leaders that if they want to curb Sectarianism in the area, they should start with those who promote it, especially politicians who use religious differences to confuse voters.

He however asked religious leaders to start sensitising natives about things concerning security, saying that the country has started getting many elements that don’t want peace.

In his own words, Minister Byabagambi warned some people he termed as empty headed, who he said went to president Museveni and lied to him that AMDA was collecting money to support opposition parties.

He cautioned them that if they don’t have what to tell Museveni, they should keep quiet instead of taking him false information.

“Some people in government told the president that I was sleeping in the Archbishop’s house conducting AMDA meetings to support Amama Mbabazi and we overthrow the NRM government. I was shocked because I have never slept there and in AMDA we have never discussed anything concerning opposing government. I tell these people to shut up if they don’t have what to tell the President.” Byabagambi said.

Archbishop Paul K Bakyenga, who was the main celebrant, applauded members of AMDA for the free services they rendered to Ugandans, saying that what they are doing is a legacy and that if heaven exists, they have already worked for it.

In the same ceremony, they contributed money to complete Mushanga Catholic building which is found in Kabwohe, where president Museveni gave them Shs30M cash.

Byabagambi contributed Shs2M cash, Minister Elioda Tumwesigye Shs9M cash and 100 bags of cement, Minister Kamuntu Ephraim Shs2M cash and others, which made a total of 51M.

The function was attended by many government figures like Hon. Mwijukye Francis, Hon. Olive Koyekyenga, Hon. Jacklet Atuhaire Rwabukurukuru, Hon Dononzio Kahonda, Hon. Emma Boona, and many others.
