Kamuli, Uganda: A top National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobiliser in eastern Uganda is in deep trouble over alleged defilement.

Samuel Bamwole, the Kamuli District National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Chairperson, was arrested on Wednesday evening for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 13-year-old girl in August 2018. Bamwole’s defilement victim is said to be experiencing severe bleeding after undergoing an abortion so as to ‘kill’ evidence. The victim’s father said Bamwole has been sending his daughter threats if she doesn’t withdraw her accusation, which promoted the father to report the case  at Kamuli police station. The Busoga North Region police spokesperson Michael Kasadha confirmed Bamwole’s arrest. Kasadha said that; “It is true we have Bamwole in our custody. Our investigations are ongoing.”  It alleged that Bamwole tried talking the girl’s family into negotiations but they refused.  It is said that he reportedly convinced the girl to eject the foetus on January 15th, 2019 before he fled. However, police later tracked down and arrested Bamwole at Crescent medical clinic in Mpumudde, Kimaka division, where he had taken the girl for a medical checkup.

However,  Bamwole denied the defilement allegations, claiming that although they stay in the same area, he has never molested nor defiled her as is being claimed. But the police revealed that the suspect will appear in court after detectives completing their investigations.
