Ruparelia Group Tops List of 20 Hotels Approved For Common Wealth Parliamentary Conference 2019

Kampala: If you see xity tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia happily running to the bank,or increasing on his all-white wardrobe in terms of size and class, don’t wonder, our snoop can exclusively reveal that four of his hotels, which include Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, Speke Resort, Kabira Country Club
and Speke Hotel, are among the top list of 20 hotels approved for the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) 2019.

The Conference which will be held from September 22-29 at the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo, is expected to see over 1000 delegates fly into Uganda and this will be a great business opportunity for hotel owners, and clearly, Sudhir will be the highest dollar earner of all during their stay here.

Since many of the delegates will be staying in Uganda for days, Parliament set up a steering committee for accommodation led by Minister Hajjati Syda Bumba, which has since selected the list of hotels where the over 1200 delegates from across the globe will be accommodated during their stay in Uganda.

Apart from the Ruparelia group hotels other approved hotels by the Bumba Committee include;
Golden Tulip Hotel, Xanadu Collection, Imperial Royale Hotel, Lake Victoria Serena Resort, Sheraton Hotel Kampala, Protea Hotel, Fairway Hotel, Emin Pasha, Hotel Kampala, Royal Suites Hotel Bugolobi, Hotel Africana ,Gold Star Hotel, Kampala Serena Hotel, Skyz Hotel, Grand Imperial Hotel, Silver Springs Hotel Kampala, Le Petit Hotel and Metropole Hotel Kampala.

According to Elijah Okupa, the Kasiro South MP, at least 1200 delegates have so far confirmed attendance, although the number is expected to increase.

However members of the commitee were barred from divulging details of the delegates and the rooms at the various hotels where they have been booked , because of security reasons.

While commenting about the list of approved hotels, Minister Bumba said that “We carried out a survey based on the assessment by the Uganda Hotel Owners’ Association and the Uganda Travel Bureau, to find out the suitability for our guests.”

The Conference is expected to gather over 1000 speakers, parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and decision makers from across the Commonwealth for the conference and networking. Delegates will come from Asia, Australia, the British Islands, Canada, the Caribbean, India, South East Asia, the Americas, and the rest of Africa.

Speaker Kadaga, who is expected to be one of the Moderators at the Conference, has in the past been greatly involved in Commonwealth Activities.
For instanmce she is the former chairperson of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) from 2013-2016. She is also a former Vice-Chairperson of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (International) and Executive Committee Member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly representing Africa and former chairperson of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarian Africa Region.

Meanwhile, security at these hotel facilities has since been tightened up to ensure that none of the delegates who will travel to Uganda will fee insecure in any way. The police, Uganda Peoples Defence Forces and other security agencies are patrolling all these hotels day and night to ensure that there is no security breach whatsoever.
