Shumuk,Katatumba Case Adjourned Again

By Peter Ssebulime

Kampala: Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court on Tuesday again adjourned a case in which city businessman  Mukesh Shukla aka Shumuk is accused of allegedly forging documents and signatures of Angela Katatumba and her siblings.

Chief magistrate Stella Amabilis adjourned the case in which Mukesh, the executive director of Shumuk Aluminum Industries, is charged with 13 counts of fraud and forging signatures with intent to grab property of the late Pakistan consul to Uganda Boney Katatumba. The case has since been adjourned to  September 6, 2019 for further hearing.

The adjournment arose after prosecution asked court for some time because their key witness was not feeling well. The judge ruled that she had given them the last adjournment since the case has taken long, hearing of the same having started last year.

In this case Prosecution contends that Mukesh and others still at large around April 17, 2015, while in Kampala district, with intent to defraud or deceive, forged a letter for official handover of hotel Diplomate in Muyenga, Kampala, purporting to have been signed by the deceased.

David Bwambale, one of the defense lawyers told the press shortly after the court session that it would be good if court hurried up with the case proceeding so as to save money and time his client wastes going to court, yet prosecution has totally failed to give clear  evidence and have started asking for useless adjournments.

Meanwhile, Mukesh called upon court to summon police,  such that they can answer why they arrested him over the same case, which has no evidence and is instead making him  waste his time and money.
