Pandemonium As Mbarara Chief Magistrate Runs Mad While Hearing Col. Besigye’s Case!

By Andrew Irumba

Pandemonium broke out in Mbarara district on Thursday afternoon after the

Mbarara Chief Magistrate Pamela Karamagi losing control of her mental faculties, while hearing Col. Dr. Kizza’s Besigye’s case.

Our Spies reveal that Lady Karamagi was rushed to Butabika mental hospital over mental disorder that she developed after failing to handle Col. Kizza  Besigye’s  case of inciting violence, which was ongoing at Mbarara court.

According to our Spies, the Judiciary recalled Karamagi immediately after her mental condition worsened, which made her incapable of continuing hearing the case.

A colleague at Mbarara Chief Magistrates Court intimated to our Spies that “Pamela has been working well until last month when she started getting bad dreams of people trying to kill her and rape her.”

The unfortunate development was confirmed by Judiciary spokesperson Solomon Muyita, who revealed that Karamagi has since been given Medical Leave and is receiving  medical attention at Butabika Referral Mental Hospital, following reports about her state of mental instability.

Muyita also added that the Chief Magistrate has been experiencing illusions which made her feel extremely vulnerable. Her colleagues say she repeatedly said she got dreams about people trying to physically attack her through cyber technology or that strange people keep following her everywhere with intentions of harming her.

Ms Nambayo, an officer of the judiciary on Thursday issued a press  release, in which Chief Registrar partly said that “….there were numerous complaints that Her Worship Karamagi suffers from a yet to be determined condition and could no longer ably perform her duties, a reason we had to recall her and take for medical attention.”

The Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary Pius Bigirimana said Ms. Karamagi’s circumstances have been carefully discussed in Management.

Bigirimana said “Our decision is to work with her family to assist her access psycho social support services.”  He added  that “Her family informed the Judiciary that it sought some medical attention for her last year without much success.”

We have however learnt Karamagi a few days ago wrote a missive to president of the Uganda Judicial Officers Association in which she revealed all about her troubles.

The press release from the Judiciary  adds that “ As the Judiciairy, we understand that  Karamagi is undergoing a very difficult phase of her life and career. As such, we believe that sensationalizing or making fun of her circumstances may just escalate her condition.”

Karamagi is currently undergoing psychiatry attention at the mental facility.
