Kampala: The Commander-In-Chief of all armed forces of Uganda dubbed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Thursday appointed Maj Gen Kayanja Muhanga as the Kampala joint security operations coordinator who will be overall operations boss for all security agencies reporting only to CiC.
TheSpy Uganda has learnt that Kayanja will be the link between joint operations of the police force, the military and intelligence agencies.
In his New Year’s address, President Museveni said he had deployed highly trained units that have been fighting Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) at the DR Congo border and the Al-Shabaab militias in Somalia to deal with security operations in areas which had been regarded as no-go zones for the “weak and corrupt police.”

Museveni revealed that the decision was made after learning that some hardcore criminals are allegedly being used by some opposition politicians to intimidate civilians and wreak havoc in Kampala.
Meanwhile, Muhanga appointment comes just after he had returned from a one-year course at South Africa’s National Defense College.
Muhanga, was serving as the Commander of the UPDF Contingent in Somalia a position he attained in January 2014 by General Yoweri Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the UPDF and the President of Uganda.
Prior to that, Brigadier Muhanga served as the Commandant of the Military Police within the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF).
