Three Burnt Into Ashes As Fire Guts Hima Cement Plant In Kasese

On Saturday, 15th January, 2022 at about 12.30 pm, a fire broke out at Hima Cement Plant in Kasese which led to the death of its three staff.

This has been confirmed by the company’s press statement stating that other eight staff were injured with one in critical condition. “We hope for a positive outcome and we are doing everything within our means to ensure that they get proper medical care and a quick recovery,” adds statement.

According to the statement, the Hima Cerment fire responders with the support of Uganda Police Fire Brigade and the UPDF team, were able to bring the fire under control in under one hour.

“We are working with all relevant authorities to ensure that the root cause of the incident is identified,” says the company.

Cause Of Fire

The company says its team was doing installation works at the Light Diesel Oil Tank when the incident happened.

“Our team is working with the authorities to further investigate the incident and to ascertain the course of events. We shall share more information in due course,” says company adding;

“Our operations at the Hima Plant have been stopped as we take stock of this incident and to ensure that the fire is fully contained. The Health and Safety of our employees and all stakeholders rernains our number one priority.”
