Uganda Sand Cranes beat neighbours Tanzania 4-3 during a group A duel at the ongoing AFCON beach soccer 2021 finals in Senegal.

Isma Kawawulo, Emmanuel Alex Wasswa and Swalleh Ssimbwa found the goals for Uganda at Saly beach soccer stadium.

A brace from Juma Rajab Januph and Wallis Stephanie Napuunalo was Tanzania’s goals.

Uganda will now wait for the match between hosts and defending champions Senegal against Tanzania (on Wednesday, 26th May 2021) to know their feat about qualification to the quarter-finals.

There is therefore three day’s rest of recovery before Uganda will be back into action on Friday, 28th May 2021.

This was the right response for Uganda having lost the opener 5-1 to Senegal, a feat that assistant coach Bashir Mutyaba attributed to doing the basics right.

‘‘After losing to Senegal a day before, we went back to the drawing board and planned afresh for the Tanzania game. We, therefore, lifted our bodies for the game,’’ Mutyaba disclosed.
