Mubende-Kassanda South Member of Parliament, Hon. Semeo Nsubuga was on Monday man-handled before Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi in Mubende District being accused of being President M7’s ‘sycophant’.

Semeo, a former National spokesperson Uganda Police Force and UN official to civil war-torn South Sudan was manhandled by Mr. William Ntege, commonly known as Kyuma kya Yesu, a former journalist of the defunct Naguru based WBS Television.

Survivor: Kassanda South mp Semeo Nsubuga with his son pose for a photo opportunity in front of Kabaka Ronald Mwenda portrait on Monday.

The incident occurred at Buwekula County Headquarters, Mubende Municipality, where the people of Buganda were celebrating Kabaka’s 24th coronation Anniversary.

Traditionally, Kabaka’s subjects prostrate before him to pay allegiance. When the master of ceremonies, Mr Noah Kiyimba invited all Buganda MPs to pay allegiance, Mr Nsubuga followed suit.

Suddenly, Mr Ntege emerged from a corner where journalists were seated and tried to stop Mr Nsubuga accusing him of being a sycophant to M7 by promoting the lifting of age limit beyond the constitutional 75yrs.

A brief scuffle ensued before royal guards and police officers intervened and separated the two men.

Mr Nsubuga whose constituency is in Mubende District, is one of the National Resistance Movement party members who have openly supported the scrapping of the 75 years age ceiling for presidential candidates.

The scheme to scrap Article 102 (b) is being interpreted by some people as a ploy to allow President Yoweri Museveni, 73, who has been president for 31 years, to contest again for the top job in Uganda in 2021. Mr Ntege was taken to police.

Meanwhile, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga told Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, who attended the ceremonies, to tell his colleagues in government to avoid legislations that would displace people from their land.

However,Mr.Nsubuga through his social media platform accused a group of opposition members for plotting for his embarrassment on Monday, warning them that he won’t be intimidated.
