National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Simon Tolit who run against late Speaker Andrew Oulanyah’s son Andrew Ojok in the last year’s Omoro by-election has died.

Tolit is said to have been battling a certain illness at Lacor Hospital in Gulu where he has been admitted for days.

The same news has been confirmed by NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who tweeted; “It is very unfortunate that he has passed without seeing the justice and good governance which he so much struggled for, all his life. Details regarding burial arrangements are being discussed with the family, and will be communicated in due course. May his soul rest in peace.”

Tolit was the Omoro County MP in the eighth Parliament but got defeated by Oulanyah in 2011 parliamentary election. Oulanyah again beat him in the February 18, 2021 parliamentary election.

Tolit had previously contested for the same seat on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket but lost. RIP
