Ankole Lions, Bright Stars Lock Horns In Goalless Draw

Mbarara City FC and Bright Stars FC played out a goalless draw at Kakyeka Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The game marked the return of league action to Kyakyeka stadium for the first time this season after the FUFA Club licensing committee was initially deemed unfit of venue to host league games, however, the action on pitch did not live to the billing for the home fans who came to rally behind the Ankole Lions.

It was a disappointing result for the Ankole Lions who were marking their return to Kakyeka Stadium.

Ankole Lions FC

Paul Nkata’s side who started the season, hosting games in Luzira, could not make home advantage count as they failed to break down the Stars.

Despite getting the better chances in the first half, Mbarara City FC like they have done in the last three games failed to find the back of the net.

Bebe Swalik Segujja headed wide in the 16th minute while Brian Aheebwa shot directly at Bright Stars’ goalkeeper Emmanuel Kiwanuka six minutes later.

Later, Brian Ahebwa had a shot expertly saved by Bright Stars’ goalie Godwin Buule, Solomon Okwalinga also came close but shot went agonizingly wide of the target as he was playing his first game under coach Paul Nkata failed to tap home when he was founded unmarked in the area.

Mbarara have now gone five games minus tasting victory having drawn twice and lost on three occasions and the draw piles more pressure onto head coach Paul Nkata who has won only once since replacing Brian Ssenyondo at the helm, in their next assignments, Mbarara visits second-placed BUL FC at Njeru while Bright Stars will host SC Villa.

Mbarara now drop into 13th spot on the log, having gathered 10 points from 12 games and Bright Stars remain 14th on the log with 10 points.
