Another Coronavirus Case Registered In Kayunga, Number Of Infections Rises To 10

The number of Coronavirus infections in Uganda has risen to  10 after a new case was confirmed by the Ministry of Health officials in Kayunga district on Tuesday morning.

The yet to be identified case is a person who recently returned from Rwanda and has since been quarantined, so as to avoid infecting others.

Kayunga district Woman Member of Parliament Aida Elios Nantaba confirmed the new infection and told the media that “It is so unfortunate that Coronavirus has already reached our district. I urge all Ugandans to stay home, wash hands and follow the Ministry of Health guidelines or preventing  Coronavirus because health is better than wealth.”

We have since established that there are several other suspected cases of Coronavirus infections in Kayunga district, among them a Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) officer who is quarantined at  Galilaya Health Centre, another case, of someone who recently returned from Dubai, is quarantined in Bukungu-Nampanyi, plus another in Kasokwe village and one who was got from Kayunga municipality, who has since been quarantined. However, these suspected cases are pending testing, after which the officials will declare whether they are infected or not.

The number of infections now comes to 10, following the 8 who were announced by the Ministry of Health on Monday evening and the first case that was registered on Sunday night.  

President Yoweri Museveni is set to address the nation this afternoon at 4:00PM about Coronavirus and during his address, he is expected to issue new guidelines on how Ugandans can prevent the spread of COVID-19.
