As we speak now, Member of Parliament for Aringa South in Yumbe District, Yorke Alioni Odria spent the bigger part of the night behind coolers, at Jinja road police station, after he was picked like a grasshopper from a Kololo bar.

Hon Odria is accused of assaulting Assistant Superintendent of Police Alex Ssenge, the Officer In charge (OC) at Parliament who was part of the security team that was overseeing the election process of selecting representatives of Uganda in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

In a video that has been making rounds on various social platforms, MP Odria is seen shouting at the top of his voice and running towards ASP Ssenge whom he later grabs and punches.

Following the above incident, Police summoned him on Monday in a letter sent through the Speaker of Parliament Anita Amongi asking the MP to appear at CID headquarters in Kibuli on October 4th at 10 am to make a statement over his attack on a police officer.

In response to the summons, the cheaky MP told Police that he could not make it to Kibuli because he was organizing his wedding in the village slated for this Saturday, something that left police with doubts.

Our sources at CID told our reporter that after declining to bring himself to CID claiming he was in the busy with his wedding preparations, they started tracking him to ascertain whether what he was saying was true. To their dismay, theirs gadgets showed the ‘Honourable’ MP was around Kololo. On tressing him, they finally landed on him in a bar merry making with friends at around 9pm. “Guy was enjoying his favourite liquor at Tonny Bar in Kololo with his bummy babes and male friends before we made his happiness come to a standstill,” said our source.

The source also added that the MP will be produced before Buganda Road Court this morning on charges of assault and assaulting a police officer on duty.

According to the source, the assaulted officer, Ssenge is still admitted in a private facility in critical condition. “The hitting was so serious because he came from behind and was unexpected. The officer could have got shock waves, due to the sensitive parts the MP hit,” added a source.
