Arrest Him On Sight; Court Issues Arrest Warrant For ACP Bakaleke!

The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala has issued a warrant of arrest to Assistant Commissioner of Police Siraje Bakaleke after shunning legal court summons.

ACP Bakaleke who is accused of 12 counts of abuse of office, kidnap, and conspiracy to defraud and commit a felony was supposed to appear before Grade One Magistrate Moses Nabende on Friday but never showed up.
A state prosecutor Harriet Angom told court that ACP Bakaleke was served through his lawyers, Senguka Robert and Nakachwa & Partners, so he ought to have appeared on Friday 5th.

After hearing the state prosecutor’s request, Magistrate Moses Nabende issued warrant of arrest against Bakaleke on grounds that he never gave court reasons to abscond court session.

Suspended ACP Bakaleke and other officers who include D/ASP Innocent Munezero, D/ASP Innocent Nuwagaba, D/AIP Robert Asiimwe, PC Amanya Junior, PC Babu Gastavas and PC Kenneth Zirintuusa are accused of having arbitrarily directed the wrongful arrest and confinement of three Korean nationals.

They are jointly charged with Paul Mugoya Wanyoto and Samuel Nabeta for allegedly defrauding the said Koreans of $415,000 (about Shs1.5 billion) between February 4 and 11, 2018.
Prosecution further alleged that on February 4 and 11, the accused persons conspired to kidnap the three Koreans with an intention to secretly or wrongfully confine and defraud them.
Recently Bakaleke rushed to police requesting for protection that he was receiving threatening messages and calls to finish off his life.
