As we write this now, Makerere University’s main building, the Ivory tower is on fire! 🔥 🔥🔥
Cause of inferno yet to be known, though police’s fire brigade is already on site fighting to save the little remains they could. Half of the building is already in flames with most of the properties in there burnt to ashes.
The fire brigade and everyone else is trying their best,but the fire is heavy and sprouting from the right side of the Building. The fire flames are heavy coming through right side of the roof which has now sunk in as we write this.
MAK is one of Africa’s and Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.
