Serere County Member of Parliament dubbed Bishop Patrick Okabe and his wife Christine Okabe have died.

Bishop Okabe died after a head-on collision with a Kenya truck registration number KCX 071K at Naboa along Mbale-Tirinyi road on Monday morning while driving with his wife to Kampala in his vehicle registration number UBK 995F.

Police Traffic and Road Safety spokesperson, ASP Faridah Nampiima, said “Okabe died on the spot while his wife died on the way to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.”

“The cause of the accident has been attributed to the Isuzu box body driver who was speeding, drifted from his side to the side of the Landcruister that was coming from Mbale heading to Iganga and had a head-on collision,” said Nampiima.

“The driver of the Fuso box body is on the run after causing the accident,” she added.
