In a continued effort to strengthen the country’s moral fabric and empower the next generation in the fight against corruption, Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, on November 28 delivered powerful lectures on patriotism and integrity to more than 2,400 students across Mbarara and Fort Portal.

The engagements, organised by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps, brought together 1,500 students at Mbarara High School for a morning session and over 900 students at Nyakasura School and Bukuku Community Secondary School in Fort Portal later in the day.

Addressing the youthful audiences, Gen. Isoke emphasized that patriotism remains one of the most effective tools in the war against corruption, urging students to embrace values of integrity, discipline, and responsibility as guiding principles for their academic journeys and future professions.

He reminded the students that the Constitution places a duty on all citizens—especially young people—to play an active role in the national fight against corruption.

“It is through patriotism that corruption will be defeated. When corruption thrives, a nation loses strength; when integrity thrives, a nation rises,” Gen. Isoke said.
The General warned that corruption robs young people of opportunities, weakens institutions, and slows national development. He also tackled common forms of corruption found in academic institutions, including exam malpractice, misuse of school resources, illegal fees, absenteeism, and the presence of ghost teachers, urging students to resist and report such acts.

Gen. Isoke expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps and her team for their dedication to shaping a responsible generation. He further thanked Mr. Haam Ahimbisibwe, Head Teacher of Mbarara High School, and Rev. Canon Richardson Balinda, Head Teacher of Nyakasura School, for opening their institutions to the patriotism training programme.

He also recognized H.E. the President and the NRM Government for championing patriotism as a central national value and for establishing strong institutional and legislative frameworks aimed at curbing corruption.
With Uganda now enjoying peace and steady socio-economic transformation, Gen. Isoke underscored that protecting these gains through a relentless fight against corruption remains a top government priority.
The patriotism training sessions are part of a wider national strategy to instill civic values among young people and equip them to become responsible leaders and citizens committed to building a corruption-free Uganda.
