Bukedea TC Hit Two Past Katwe To Register First Win Of The Season

By Samuel Opio

Bukedea Town Council ended their winless start to the FUFA Big League season in style with a humble win over Katwe United at CRO Playground, Mbale to climb off the bottom of the table.

The Bukedea based side registered two draws and a defeat to Paidha Black Angels in the first three games of the season, this win means that they now have five points.

Simon Misaki Opio scored a sensational quickfire goal to give the hosts the lead in the 3rd minute before Innocent Maduka scoring the second in the 38th minute to give Bukedea Town Council their first win of the FUFA Big League season

The ‘tulibanyivu’ side pulled one back thanks to Alex Katumba’s fine finish in the 68th minute.

Katwe recently fired their experienced head coach Hassan Mubiru after a 4-1 thrashing by Doves All Stars at the StarTimes Stadium Lugogo. They appointed Allan Kabonge aka the promotions specialist who fell to the hands of Ssekitto Anthony who said its his revenge to him after he (Kabonge) knocked him in the play-offs (by then (Kabonge) coaching Paidha Black Angels while he was at Kitara FC).

He said that Katwe is a good team but he is more organized.

“They are very good, all their players are experienced having played in the top flight but my side was angry for a win since we have not had a win. We have waited for this day to come and it has finally come. I am using this win as a revenge for what Katwe’s coach did to me when I was still at Kitara and he was at Paidha. I didn’t sleep for 4 days!” Bukedea TC coach said.

Kabonge on the other side said that he is not shaken because this is his first game as Katwe United coach but he is ready for it.

“This is just my first game, despite it coming as a lose but we shall build from that,” he said.

Bukedea TC will visit Light SS in the Teso derby on Sunday.

The two teams have met twice in the league and both have had a single win.

Light SS drew at home to Mable based side Kataka FC.
