Kampala, Uganda — The family of renowned media personality and sports administrator Cedric Babu Ndilima is urgently appealing to the public for financial assistance to raise Shs1.5 billion needed for a life-saving heart transplant.
Babu, who has been a familiar face in Uganda’s entertainment and sports circles for years, is currently battling a serious heart condition that requires specialized treatment abroad. The transplant procedure is expected to take place in India, where facilities for such complex surgeries are available.

In a heartfelt message shared through local media and social platforms, the family disclosed that Cedric’s condition has reached a critical stage, and time is of the essence. They expressed their gratitude for the support received so far and emphasized the need for more help from well-wishers, friends, colleagues, and the general public.

“This is not just about Cedric the public figure; it’s about a father, a son, a friend, and a man who has given so much to this country in the areas of sports and entertainment,” the family stated. “We are humbly requesting every Ugandan and friend of Uganda to stand with us in this hour of need.”

Cedric Babu, son to Former minister and Kampala Central MP Capt.Francis Babu is well known for his involvement in television broadcasting and was a key figure in the rebranding of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC). He also served as the president of the Uganda Boxing Federation and has been actively involved in sports development initiatives across the country.

Fundraising efforts are currently underway, including the establishment of donation channels through mobile money, bank accounts, and online crowdfunding platforms. The family has urged the public to contribute whatever they can, no matter how small, to help reach the Shs1.5 billion target.
