Collateral Damage Again? Angry & Hungry Police, UPDF Turn Guns Against Journalists, Brutalize Tens At UN Offices!

Kampala: A couple of journalists have been admitted to various hospitals with serious injuries they sustained when soldiers on Wednesday attacked them while covering National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi who was delivering his petition to United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) offices in Kololo, Kampala.

The journalists include Geoffrey Twesigye of NTV, Irene Abalo of Daily Monitor, John Cliff Wamala of NTV, Timothy Murungi of New Vision and Josephine Namakumbi of NBS, among others.

Also, roads leading to the UNHR office, where NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi is delivering a petition have been blocked.

Other National Unity Platform leaders including the Kalangala Woman MP-elect Helen Nakimuli to remain stranded as Police neither allows them to leave the premises neither are they allowed entering the UNHR the office where Kyagulanyi is presenting his petition on rights violations against his supporters.

Kyagulanyi on Tuesday, while speaking to the media at the National Unity Platform headquarters said his team will present a petition to the United Nations Office of Human Rights protesting the increasing violation and harassment of his supporters by state security agencies.
