Reports circulating on Thursday evening claim that the King of Tooro, His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, has died after reportedly battling cancer while receiving treatment in the United States.
Spy Uganda understands that some sources said to be close to the royal family have also made similar claims, although there has been no official confirmation from Tooro Kingdom or the King’s family at the time of publication.
The reports come after days of growing concern over the monarch’s health and his reported absence from public engagements.
Sources further claim that the doctor who treated the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II in Namibia is the same specialist who had reportedly been treating King Oyo in the United States.
Spy Uganda has also learnt from sources that a single treatment session reportedly cost about US$15,000.
However, these details, including the claims surrounding the King’s reported death and treatment, could not independently be verified by the time of publication.
The circumstances surrounding the reports remain unclear, with the public awaiting an official communication from the royal family or Tooro Kingdom.
