Kampala, Nakasero: Having received the first jab earlier in March this year, Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have today received their second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine-TheSpy Uganda reports.
After receiving the jab, Museveni noted, ”I urge Ugandans to get vaccinated. We started with the high-risk groups like health workers, teachers, the elderly, security, and people with comorbidities. Our target is to cover over four million people.”

In March, Museveni and Janet received their first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines at State House in the capital Kampala before the President encouraged all Ugandans who qualify for this vaccination to go to health facilities and get it.
Uganda launched the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign on March 10, targeting high-risk groups in the East African country.
The ministry targets to vaccinate more than 21.9 million people who face the highest risk of the infection, which include health workers, teachers, security personnel, the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions.

The development comes at a time when the Ministry of Health has revealed that results of COVID-19 tests done on 01 June 2021 confirmed 1,083 new cases bringing the cumulative confirmed to 49,759.
