India: A security guard posted at the Junction Road branch of Bank of Baroda in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly on Friday allegedly opened fire at a customer after entering the bank without the mask. The guard was detained by police while the injured man was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
As per the information received, the security guard identified as Keshav allegedly got into an argument with a customer named Rajesh over the entry in the bank without a mask. After a heated argument, the guard in anger shot at Rajesh on his thigh.
A video of the incident has surfaced in which Rajesh can be seen lying on floor in a pool of blood while his wife can be seen screaming at the guard, who can also be seen standing next to the victim.
“The guard first stopped my husband from entering the bank and asked to wear a mask, after which he wore a mask and as he tried to enter again the guard again stopped him and said that he won’t allow to go inside as it was lunch time. My husband tried to enter the bank after a little scuffle on which the guard shot him. I want strict action to be taken against the guard,” said Priyanka, the wife of the victim.
Speaking to media about the incident, Superintendent of Police (City) Ravindra Kumar said, “The incident took place today morning at around 11:30am when a man named Rajesh had come to Bank of Baroda located at station road where he entered into an altercation with the security guard after which the guard shot him. We have taken the guard into police custody and injured has been admitted to hospital. The real reason behind the altercation is yet to be ascertained though eye witnesses say it was about mask wearing.”
