COVID-19: India Registers 366,161 New Cases In One Day Despite Lockdown In Several States

India: With 366,161 fresh infections, India recorded a significant drop in the number of daily Covid-19 cases. Its cumulative caseload now stands at 22,662,575, while 246,116 people have died from the deadly virus. India now has 3.75 million active cases. On a positive note, 18,671,222 (or or 82.15 per cent of total caseload) patients have recovered.

 

Coronavirus cases are surging rapidly in states like Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Haryana, Odisha and Uttarakhand.

 

Maharashtra reported 48,401 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases and 920 deaths, followed by Karnataka (47,930), Kerala (35,801), Uttar Pradesh (23,333), Tamil Nadu (28,897), West Bengal (19,441), Delhi (13,336) in the past 24 hours.

 

The six most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (5,101,737), Karnataka (1,934,378), Kerala (1,922,249), Uttar Pradesh (1,503,490), Tamil Nadu (1,380,259), Delhi (1,323,567), and Andhra Pradesh (1,287,603).
As India reels under a calamitous second wave of the coronavirus infection, more than two thirds of its states have extended lockdowns. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Most of the country is either under lockdown or restrictions that include the following.

All public transport services, including the BMTC and metro trains in Bengaluru and KSRTC across the State, will remain shut

Taxis, auto rickshaws, cab services are prohibited, except hired during emergency situations

All educational institutions including schools, colleges and coaching institutions will remain closed. However, online classes would be permitted

Restaurants, hotels will be closed. However, they are permitted to operate with limited kitchens for taking home deliveries.

All theatres, cinema halls, gymnasiums, shopping malls, sports complexes, stadiums and playgrounds, swimming pools, parks, bars and clubs, are closed

All public gatherings, religious places and other places of worship will remain closed

All hospitality services, except those meant for health officials, police personnel and other government officials, tourists and quarantine facility will remain closed

All hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, labs, dispensaries, pharmacies, chemists, Jan Aushadhi Kendras and blood banks will be open.
