Kampala: Ireland Health Minister Stephen Donnelly last night announced his intention to add Uganda to the list of countries from which travellers must enter mandatory hotel quarantine.

People arriving in Ireland who have been in or went through Uganda in the previous 14 days must enter quarantine, according to the latest rules.
It is also a legal requirement that those from non-designated countries observe 14 days of home quarantine. This can only be shortened if you receive a not-detected RT-PCR test result taken no less than five days after arrival.

Meanwhile, the Government added: “Due to concerns about the new variant of Covid-19, people travelling from Great Britain are strongly advised to avail of free testing five days after arrival in Ireland, and to strictly adhere to the legal requirements for home quarantine.”

The development comes after the latest results of COVID-19 tests done on 10 June 2021 confirmed 1,735 new cases which saw the country’s cumulative confirmed cases rising to 60,250.
