Kampala: According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, over 500 COVID-19 patients have been admitted in the last 24 hours, the largest number the country has registered in 2022.
Ministry says the above has been detected from the results of COVID-19 tests done on 3 January 2022.
Uganda yesterday had 30 active cases admitted at the health facilities, but today’s afternoon Ministry said the number has escalated to 538 meaning in the last 24 hours they have registered 508 cases.

In the same vein, the Ministry confirmed 1,766 new cases in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative cases to 146,776.
The breakdown of the new cases is: 1,727 Alerts And Contacts; Kampala (698), Wakiso (413), Kiruhura (75), Mbale (65), Mbarara (50), Gulu (44), Soroti (43), Moroto (37), Jinja (30), Kabarole (27), Oyam (18), Kazo (18), Abim (18), Masindi (13), Luweero (13), Buikwe (12),Iganga (12).
Other are; Lyantonde (12), Mityana (10), Bududa (10), Kyotera (16), Bushenyi (8), Tororo (15), Kiryandongo (6), Buvuma (5), Kibuku (5), Hoima (4), Kalaki (4), Namisindwa (3), Busia (6), Bukomansimbi (4), Adjumani (4), Kalaki (2), Amuru (14), Kikuube (2), Kanungu (5), Kasese (2), Moyo (1) Mayuge (1), Kabale (1), Kisoro (1) 39 Truck drivers; Tororo (18), Kyotera (18), Busia (2), Ntungamo (1).
President Museveni recently addressing Ugandans on measures of reopening the economy made it clear that “some of the measures may be reversed if a high Covid-19 dependency on ICU bed occupancy exceeds 50 percent and once the daily rate of the hospitalisation of critically ill patients is sustained at 30 per day for 5 days in 2 or more Covid-19 units.”
