COVID-19: President Museveni Receives Booster Shot

By Spy Uganda

HE. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has got a COVID-19 vaccine booster as one of the ways of strengthening immunity.

The news has been announced by the Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Linda Nabusayi who shared a picture of Museveni being injected by the Health Ministry Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine.

A COVID booster shot is an additional dose of a vaccine given after the protection provided by the original shot(s) has begun to decrease over time. The booster is designed to help people maintain their level of immunity for longer.

Nabusayi tweeted, ”I really appeal to everybody to do the needful. Please, this is not a joke. All must get up and be vaccinated.”

COVID-19 vaccine boosters and additional vaccine doses are now authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for certain people.

Addressing Ugandans on New Year’s Eve, Museveni asked all Ugandans above 18yrs to get full vaccinated as a mechanism of curbing COVID-19.

“I really appeal to everybody to do the needful. If you belong to this group of 50+ get a booster dose. If 18 and above get vaccinated fully. Please get the two vaccines if you are 18 years and then the ones above 50 years or below 50 but with comorbidities get a booster,” he said.
