COVID-19: Uganda Detects 1116 New Cases, Total Tally Shoots To 134348

Kampala: Uganda’s health ministry on Sunday reported 1,116 new COVID-19 cases from 7,911 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s total number of infections to 134,348.

In the same period, the country registered one new death, bringing its total number of virus-related fatalities to 3,275.

The East African country remains to be on high alert following the emergence of the omicron variant, which has now spread to more than 100 countries globally.

The government has urged the public to continue adhering to health protocols to curb the further spread of the virus.

Aside from containment measures, the government has rolled out a nationwide vaccination drive in an effort to better protect the public.

So far, 10,121,220 vaccine doses have been administered across the country.

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 224 countries and territories and as we report this, 280,334,356 cases, 5,416,415 deaths and 250,361,608 recoveries have been detected globally.
