COVID-19 Updates: Uganda’s Cases Now At 893

The cumulative number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Uganda has hit 893 after results from COVID-19 tests done on June 30th, 2020, confirmed 4 new cases.

According to the Ministry, the  COVID-19 Active Cases  currently on admission are 184, out of which 162 are Ugandans,19 foreigners and 3 are refugees.

However, it is important to note that foreigners and refugees are admitted in our health facilities but are NOT captured in the cumulative  confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The Ministry of Health revealed that of the 4 new confirmed cases, 1 is a truck driver who arrived from Kenya via Malaba Point of Entry, and 3 are contacts and alerts (2) from Kyotera and 1 from Amuru Districts.

Meanwhile, 16 foreign truck drivers (11 Kenyans, 4 Tanzanians and 1 Congolese) tested positive for COVID-19 but were not allowed to into the country.

Currently Uganda has 837 COVID-19 recoveries: (both Ugandans and non-Ugandans) and no recorded COVID-19 related death.

Results are from a total of 2,059 samples carried out on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative total of samples tested to 194,872.

It should be noted that globally, as of, 1 July 2020, there have been 10,268,839 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 506,064 deaths, reported to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
