COVID-19:Panic As Uganda Registers 66 New Infections Rising Total Cases To 1500

Kampala: The Ministry of Health has announced that Uganda has registered 66 new cases of COVID-19 as the virus spreads rapidly in Uganda.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new infections were detected from results tested on 15 August, 2020 that rose total cases to 1,500.

Of the 66 new infections, 53 were alerts who includes:

– 30 from Kampala

– 6 from Namisindwa

– 7 from Wakiso

– 10 from Tororo, Moroto, Katakwi, Buikwe, Bukwo, Bundibugyo, Mbale, Isingiro, Hoima and Buliisa

11 contacts to previously confirmed cases:

– 9 from Kampala

– 2 from Namisindwa and Nakaseke and two (2) returnees that includes one (1) from Ethiopia, 1 from Oman

Meanwhile, 16 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted

On the same day, Ministry tested 1868 samples, 2948 samples from alerts and contacts making 4816 total samples tested the whole day.
