Crisis Looms As NWSC Moves To Shut Down K’la, Mukono & Wakiso Water Stations

Kampala: They say water is life!

As such concerned citizens, residents and the business community in Metropolitan Kampala, you have been warned to use all the water you have sparingly, because National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced a shut down at its pump station in Gaba, Mukono and Wakiso for routine maintenance.

The shut down is for a scheduled maintenance exercise that will enable NSWC technicians to service and repair machines at their main station in Gaba and substations around various parts of Greater Kampala like Mukono and Wakiso, so as to spur service delivery.

All citizens are thus advised to utilise water harvesting methods and or spare the little they have in their tanks, because the maintenance process and resumption of service is likely to take a long time. Below is a statement released by NWSC’s media department on Monday October 14, 2019 about the matter, which spells a health crisis that’s looming upon the city;

PLANNED PLANT SHUTDOWN IN KAMPALA
The Management of National Water and Sewerage Corporation wishes to inform it’s esteemed customers and the general public that there will be water supply interruptions in some parts of Kampala on Tuesday 15th October, 2019 from 7am to 7pm.

This is to enable our engineers undertake routine maintenance works at Ggaba water treatment plant and other associated system upgrade works designed to serve you better.

Affected areas include:

Parts of Kampala central business district,Buziga, Ggaba, Bunga, Munyonyo,Lukuli, Salaama, road, Kyamula, Konge and the surrounding areas.

Rubaga service area
Rubaga, Nakulabye, Lungujja, Namungoona and the surrounding areas, Nansana, Buddo, Nabbingo, Bulenga, Buloba, Nsangi and the surrounding areas

Namasuba service area
Najjanakumbi, Seguku, Masajja, Busabala, Ndejje, Lubugumu, Lubowa, Mutundwe and the surrounding areas.

Jinja road
Mukono, Seeta, Kyambogo, Banda, Bweyogerere, Namanve, Butto, Kyambogo and the surrounding areas

Bombo road
Bwaise,Kawempe, Maganjo, Kawanda, Kawempe, Ttula, Kagoma and the surrounding areas

Wakiso service area
Wakiso, Bukasa, Kigoma and the surrounding areas

Mutungo Service area
Mutungo, Luzira, Nakawa,Biina, Kitintale, Butabiika and the surrounding areas.

Customers are therefore advised to store enough water and use it sparingly.
