Crocodile Attacks, Eats Woman Alive On L. Albert Shores

Kagadi: Shock gripped people living around Lake Albert shores in Kagadi district, after one of their  own being attacked and mauled by the rampaging crocodile on Monday evening.

Christine Nema,24, a resident of Rwebigongoro
landing site in Ndaiga Sub county, met her tragic death  while fetching water to wash her clothes
along the shores of lake.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police
Spokesperson, said that that the crocodile grabbed Nema when she had gone to
wash clothes on Lake Albert shores around 5:00pm on Monday evening.

According to Hakiza, the crocodile abandoned the
deceased’s mutilated body in the lake where it recovered found hours later by
local fishermen.

Swaibu Katusabe, the chairperson Rwebigongoro
Landing site decried the persistent crocodile attacks in the area.

He called upon Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA) to
trap crocodiles from the area and relocate them, so as to prevent the attacks
from recurring.

In September last year, 20-year-old Jessica Kabiira
and her six-month old baby were grabbed by a crocodile at Ndaiga landing site
in Kagadi district.

The woman had gone to fetch water with her
colleagues but she did not make it back home with her baby. But several other
people have been attacked by crocodiles in the same are although the UWA are
yet to respond to the cries of the locals. (Xanax)
