Nsangi: Police in Kampala Metropolitan area together with sister security agencies have Saturday recovered a gun, riffle No. UGPol 11002647_101858, with three rounds of ammunition from Nsangi, in Wakiso district, after arresting a suspected armed robber.
Through operations conducted by police and other security agencies, a suspect identified as Abdallah Kyaze, a resident of Kibuye Railway line Zone, in Mayinja Village, Nsangi, was arrested with the said gun .
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said that “The suspect was arrested while heading to Maya, Nsangi from Kibuye, with the gun wrapped in an empty bag of sugar. The suspect alleged that he was sent to bring the gun to Nsangi for a mission in Nsangi by a one Yazidi.’
Enanga added that “Upon interrogation the suspect revealed that he and others still at large have carried out robberies in areas of Kalerwe,Luzira, Salama Road, Kabalagala, Namasuba, Natete, Wakaliga Busega, and Bweyogerere.’’
Police revealed that since president Yoweri Museveni instructed Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj.Gen. Sabiiti Muzeeyi to present a work-plan to reduce crime rate in Uganda, several guns have been recovered and numerous suspects arrested, who are waiting to be paraded in court after investigation.
