Kampala: Police at Jinja Road are holding a one Adome Jeremy, 36, for allegedly stealing fake money in USD notes amounting to USD80,000 from the Room 107 at Speke Apartments.
The money, allegedly stolen belonged to socialite Sheila Nandege aka Don Zella, 36, who had booked the apartment room for 30 days on the December 5th ,2020.

Police say according to CCTV footage recovered from the apartment on December 24, 2020 , the suspect , who is at the same time a resident in the building , is seen accessing room 107 with another person yet to be arrested.
“They are later seen leaving with items. The suspect later fled to his home in Arua,” says police.
Police further reveals that it used all relevant information available and was able to trace him to his home where he was picked and brought back to Kampala to answer the charges.
Upon his arrest, a sum of 60,000 USD counterfeit money was recovered from the suspect and and has since been exhibited. But more interesting about his arrest is that he confensesed that the money he stole from the room were fake dollars,which police is now using to pin Don Zella.
Police say that investigations on the suspect are still going on as they hunt for his accomplice, who was seen in the footage breaking into Room 107 at Speke Apartments.
What Don Zella Say
In her law suit filed before the High Court Civil Division, Don Zella states that on December 6, 2020, she rented two apartment rooms number 107 and 512 operated by Speke Apartments. However, on December 25 while she and her family members were away, a thief or thieves at around 4pm, broke into her apartment room 107 and stole her properties worth Shs460 million.
Court documents indicate that Ms Nadege lost eight passports (7 USA and 1 Ugandan passport) requiring $2,000 (about Shs7 million) for replacement, two laptops (H/P probook and Macbook, a hard drive worth $3,000 (about Shs11 million), jewelry worth $15,000 (about Shs55 million).
Other properties included; four phones worth $4,800 (about Shs18 million), two kids’ tablets worth $600 (about 2 million), a Nikon D850 camera worth $4,000 (14 million), cash of $90,000 (about Shs 332 million) and Shs30m and as a result she demands for damages of 460millions.
However, Speke Management trashed all the allegations, saying the person who allegedly stole her property was a colleague she knew and came with. The Hotel has actually since released partial footages showing the suspected thief entering the hotel with Don Zela’s sister and cajoling through the corridors as they access their room numbers.
