DP Bloc Leaders Blast Police For Banning Bobi Wine Concerts

Kamapala: Leaders of the Democratic Party (DP) have condemned the Uganda police over its decision to frustrate the music concerts of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobiwine.

The Police on Easter Monday blocked Bobi Wine’s ‘Kyarenga Mungule’ concert which was scheduled to be held at his One Love Beach in Busabala. However, Bobi Wine, MP Francis Zaake, promoters Andrew Mukasa and Abbey Musinguzi plus several others were brutally arrested by the police as they blocked them from heading to One Love Beach.
Bobi Wine, who had been accompanied to the venue by revellers and his supporters, was blocked by cops. The cops fired teargas at his supporters,  then smashed his car window before violently arresting him and later driving him to his home in Magere. However, while addressing journalists during the DP weekly press conference, the Party president General Nobert Mao noted that what happened was violation of Robert Kyagulanyi’s rights as a Ugandan.

At the same presser Dr Abed Bwanika, the PDP president who is part of the DP Bloc, noted that there is no need for Ugandans to celebrate the arrival of the two new Ugandan Airlines planes. Bwanika stated that the Uganda government never conducted a survey to learn lessons from her neighboring countries who always make losses through airline business, which can be the case with Uganda. Bwanika said that “Although the company is good for tourism, the corruption in the country won’t allow  Ugandans to benefit from the project and this is the reason why the Uganda Airlines and 12 planes which Iddi Amin left collapsed.” He noted that Parliament should investigate who owns the Uganda Airlines company before Ugandans start paying back loans used to buy the planes.”
