Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni received President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s invitation on Saturday to attend the UN climate conference, COP27, in November in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The invitation was handed over by Egypt’s Ambassador to Uganda Ashraf Sweilam during his meeting with the Permanent Representative of Uganda at the United Nations Adonia Ayebare on the occasion of the approach of his diplomatic tenure’s end in Kampala, the Foreign Ministry said.

Ayebare, on the behalf of Museveni and the Ugandan government, thanked the Egyptian government and embassy for the great development in bilateral relations in various fields.

He lauded the solar plant project in Busia and the opening of an Egyptian medical centre in Jinja, backed by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development in addition to the Egyptian Irrigation Ministry’s projects in the African countries, the opening of the second phase of the joint model farm and increasing the Egyptian investments in Uganda.

Sweilam thanked the Ugandan government for facilitating the Egyptian embassy’s mission during his tenure, looking forward to the Ugandan president’s participation in COP27.

The ambassador handed over to Ayebare a message of greetings from President Sisi to Museveni on the occasion of his country’s celebrations of the national day, wishing more prosperity and stability for the Ugandan people.
