Electoral Commission Announces Okabe’s Son As Winner Of Serere By Election

The Electoral Commission has announced late Okabe Patrick’s son Emmanuel Omoding as the winner of Serere By-election.

Emmanuel Omoding who was on independent ticket scooped 15638 votes followed by the NRM ruling party flagbearer Oucor Phillip who got 13206 votes.

In the same race, Emmanuel Eratu (FDC) got 1252, Alice Alaso (ANT) 3335 votes and Martin 2524.

From the above statistics, the returning officer for Serere District Cheptegei Nangendo Slyivia stated that a total of 35954 valid votes were cast, 36766 were counted 812 were rejected and 170 got spoilt.

The by-election follows the death of former MP Okabe, who was killed in a motor accident in December along with his wife.
