Lutwaama Isaac Magandaazi, a suspected figure in land-related scams, has been formally charged with obtaining money by false pretences at the Mityana Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The charges were brought forward by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Uganda Police’s Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Lutwaama has been remanded in custody until April 9, 2026.

According to court documents, between March and August 2020, Lutwaama misled a victim in Nawanga, Zigoti Town Council, Mityana District, by claiming he was selling land at Block 24, Plot 53—a property he did not own. The victim was defrauded of UGX 37 million after Lutwaama falsely represented himself as the legitimate landowner.

Investigations revealed that the property had a rightful owner and that Lutwaama deliberately misrepresented his claim to gain financially. The victim reported the matter to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, prompting Lutwaama’s arrest. During questioning, he admitted to obtaining millions of shillings from the complainant under false pretences.

Authorities warn that Lutwaama Isaac Magandaazi has been linked to multiple similar cases in both Mityana and Wakiso districts. Members of the public who may have been defrauded or had land unlawfully taken by Lutwaama are encouraged to come forward and report their cases to the relevant authorities.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by Uganda’s anti-corruption agencies to hold perpetrators accountable and protect citizens from fraudulent land transactions.
