Days after publicly apologizing for committing adultery, the former Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stanley Ntagali is likely to cough Uganda Shillings 500 (Five Hundred Million) as damages to the husband of the woman in controversy.
It was last week when Ntagali publicly confessed to the sin before Anglican Bishops, selected priests, and faithful who gathered at Namirembe Cathedral to mark the 60th anniversary of the Church of Uganda’s self-governance.
Ntagali noted that although he was strong since the Christmas Eve of 1974 when he got saved, he sadly weakened in faith and fell into sin. Ntagali informed the congregation that he has since confessed and concealed himself in prayer seeking pardon and guidance from God adding that he is turning to his brothers and sisters in faith to find a place in their hearts to forgive him.
He further sought forgiveness from the family of the priest, Rev Christopher Tugumehabwe whose wife he committed adultery with.
However, Rev. Tugumehabwe through his lawyers of Bikangiso and Co.advocates has since turned down his apology saying that;
”Our client celebrated a church marriage with his wife Tukamuhabwa Judith on the 15th Day of December 2018.
On the 8th Day of December 2020, our client’s wife petitioned for divorce before the Chief Magistrates Court of Kabale at Kabale on the ground of “Cruelty”.
