Arsenal head into their FA Cup quarter-final clash against Southampton with renewed confidence as captain Martin Odegaard closes in on a return from injury.

The Norwegian midfielder has been out of action since February 22 with a knee problem, but his recovery comes at a crucial moment as Arsenal push for a place at Wembley. Even a limited appearance could significantly improve the team’s attacking rhythm and midfield control.

Manager Mikel Arteta faces a delicate balancing act, with several players dealing with injuries and fatigue following international duty. There was encouraging news on Jurrien Timber, who may return after missing two matches with a groin issue, adding depth to Arsenal’s defensive options.

However, Noni Madueke has been ruled out after sustaining an injury while on England duty. Arteta described the situation as less serious than initially feared and suggested the winger could be back soon.

Arsenal will also be without Eberechi Eze and Piero Hincapie, while several other players remain doubts ahead of kickoff as the club monitors their fitness closely.
One of the most intriguing storylines is the rise of 16-year-old winger Max Dowman, who is pushing for a starting role after an impressive display off the bench against Everton. The youngster could be handed a major opportunity in a high-stakes encounter.

Further up the pitch, Gabriel Jesus is expected to feature as he looks to regain momentum, while Christian Norgaard could also play a key role in midfield. In goal, Kepa Arrizabalaga is likely to retain his place despite his recent error against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

Southampton, currently competing in the Championship, will be eager to upset Arsenal’s ambitions. Playing at home, they are expected to bring intensity and physicality, hoping to exploit any weaknesses in a rotated Arsenal side.
With a semi-final spot on the line, Arsenal must combine discipline with quality to overcome what could be a tricky test. The visitors will be aiming to control possession and impose their attacking style, while Southampton look to capitalise on home advantage and cup unpredictability.
Predicted Arsenal XI:
Kepa; White, Mosquera, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Norgaard, Odegaard, Havertz; Dowman, Jesus, Martinelli
Injuries: Eze, Hincapie, Madueke, Merino
Doubts: Odegaard, Timber, Gabriel, Saliba, Rice, Zubimendi, Saka, Trossard
