Entebbe: Since yesterday, several reports indicated that Fred Lumbuye, a famous blogger wanted by the Ugandan government was late evening deported and dumped into the hands of Ugandan authorities at Entebbe Airport.

Reports further shared a couple of photographs showing a suspect in handcuffs at the airport with a face similar to Lumbuye in the background something that caused mixed reactions on various social medias.

This prompted TheSpy Uganda to alert its spies at the Airport to dig deep and give our readers the truth that they are thirsty for. Now, according to our well-placed sources at the Airport, it’s not true that Lumbuye was deported, instead, the photograph that was making rounds on socials guised as Lumbuye, was for a one Peter Ssempebwa who was arrested for alleged forgery of Interpol and Covid-19 vaccination certificates that he sold to travellers at the airport.

Addressing journalists on Friday, Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire said the suspect was arrested early this week after a group of nine migrant workers were arrested at the airport on April 16, 2021, with the said fake documents.

“The workers who were intending to travel to Saudi Arabia under Cornell Recruitment Company were intercepted by the airport authorities on suspicion that they were carrying forged Interpol certificates of good conduct and police forensic clearance certificates. We arrested the director of the recruitment company, Jacob Oola who told us that he got the papers from Ssempebwa of Nasser road” he said.

Owoyesigire explained that police had since then launched a manhunt for Ssepmpebwa who went into hiding until his arrest, Tuesday.

“We took him to his residence along Salama road, Kabuuma Zone in Makindye and his workplace at Nasser road where we recovered various forged documents including Covid-19 vaccination certificates along with forged stamps of different government agencies. He will be produced in the courts of law and the evidence we have against him is overwhelming” he said.

Mr Owoyesigire said the suspect was also found with a KCCA identity card number 1439 in his name identifying him as a law enforcement assistant directorate of legal affairs.

It’s worth noting though, that the above came after Foreign Affairs Minister, Okello Oryem noted during a press conference at the Ministry on Friday that the blogger arrested in Turkey will be deported back to Uganda on Saturday early morning and immediately be picked by the police and taken to courts of law on various charges including spreading hate speeches and sectarianism amongst other charges something that seems to have not come to fulfilment.

However, immediately after Oryem’s pressor, Mityana legislator also NUP member, Zaake Francis Butebi who is currently in Turkey on a mission of setting Lumbuye free from the country’s custody, swiftly rushed to his Facebook page and asked Ugandans to disregard the Minister’s statements saying that, that was government’s propaganda aimed at destructing and weakening people’s hearts.

”Disregard all the regime orchestrated narrative that comrade Lumbuye is pending deportation. All this is packaged to suit their extradition narrative,” said Zaake.

For our new readers, this whole saga started last month at the swearing-in ceremony of the last batch of ministers when President Museveni directed the security agencies to hunt for whoever was behind the circulation of the false rumors alleging that he was dead-pointing at Lumbuye as the leader of the crew something that has since made him most wanted.
