Final preparations are underway for a major free eye care outreach by the Ruparelia Foundation, which is set to begin on March 27, 2026, at Bukedea Teaching Hospital.

The three-day medical camp, running until March 29, aims to provide free specialized eye treatment to more than 2,000 Ugandans, with a strong focus on elderly patients and underserved communities who often lack access to affordable vision care.

Organizers say medical teams and equipment are already in place, with health professionals preparing to handle large numbers of patients expected to turn up from Bukedea and neighboring districts.

The initiative is being held in honor of Rajiv Ruparelia and is part of ongoing efforts to improve access to essential healthcare services across the country.

The outreach is being conducted in partnership with Mulago National Referral Hospital and C-Care, bringing together experienced eye specialists to offer screenings, treatment, and other critical services.

Residents have been urged to take advantage of the opportunity by bringing relatives specially elderly family members experiencing vision problems for diagnosis and care.

Health experts highlight that such initiatives play a key role in preventing avoidable blindness through early detection and timely treatment.

The camp is expected to draw significant turnout as communities respond to the call for free, high-quality eye care services.
